2026 Composition Contest Applications Due March 16
Thank you for applying for the 2026 MPA Composition Contest! The application deadline is March 16.
Up to four prizes of $250 each will be awarded in late March, and the winners will be announced through MPA's social media, including a recording/audio file of each winning composition. Winners will also be recognized at MPA Championships.
Requirements
- This should be an original composition, not an arrangement of existing music.
- The minimum length for the composition is 1 minute, and the maximum is 8 minutes.
- Upload a PDF of the composition (written in music software or another format and then turned into a PDF). Handwritten music should be notated clearly and legibly.
- Upload an audio file (.mp3, .wav, .mp4, or .mov) of the composition being played (exported from music software or played live). If you need help converting files into one of the accepted file types, just let us know.
There are no other requirements for instrumentation (number and types of instruments), style of music, etc.
